Dear Families,
Umm, how many teaching and learning days do we have left?!  Wowie, time sure flew by!!  I can still picture the first day of school seeing the keen and bright eyes of my students :)  It's really been a fantastic experience because of my brilliant learners and their awesome parents supporting us throughout the school year!!

Father's Day:
Happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all the wonderful Dads out there!  I hope you enjoy quality time together as a family.  Your child is so excited to give Dad the personalized card and letter that they created. Each student worked so hard on this during the past week.  I am so proud of their final products and I am confident you will be, too.

Blue Mountain Trip:
What a beautiful day we had for such a FUN and adventurous day of outdoor learning and exploring.  Thank you to our parent volunteers (Bailey, Nate, Carson, and Zach N.W.'s Moms) for coming along to support us throughout our day of hiking, low ropes, and the compass challenge.  We couldn't have asked for a better day!  The pictures speak volumes as to how much FUN we truly had!  Check it out!

Science:
This week, we planted some seeds and it is our hope we can see them grow before the end of school!  Some have already started to sprout, exciting!!  Thank you to Mrs. O for providing the morning glory seeds for us to plant.  I sure hope the soil I brought was rich and full of nutrients to help these guys out!

Sprouts!!
We also did a celery experiment to learn about how plants absorb water and nutrients which enables them to change and grow.  Ask your child about this experiment (e.g., materials used and what they observed the next day).

Sienna 1st Place Winner:
Congratulations to Sienna for competing in this year's area Track & Field meet at Stayner Collegiate which took place on Tuesday.  She competed in the ball throw and faced many competitors in her age category from schools in our area and came in 1st place!!  I’m so proud of YOU!! Sienna stepped outside of her comfort zone to achieve a new personal record. Upon her arrival back to school, I chatted with her and could see and feel her sheer excitement and demonstrating school pride.  Way to go!

Talent Show:
Awesome job to all the boys and girls who tried out for this year’s talent show.  Several students from our class auditioned and successfully made it!!  Congrats to Aurora, Abby, Grace, Sydney, and Heather. They've been diligently practicing during lunch hours.  Can’t wait to see their performances which will take place on the last day of school!

Poetry Cafe Note:
Lots of buzz being sent about this (we’re just so excited), but once again, Tuesday June 26th from 11:45 - 1:00 pm, we will be inviting families and friends into our learning community for our Poetry Cafe celebration.  Please ensure you sign into the office and make your way to the library. Your child will be eager to see you!  We appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to join and celebrate with us.  Please have your child dress up in a black shirt and bottoms (or dark colours).  Thank you for your support in this.

Character Recognition Assembly:
Our final Character Recognition assembly will be Friday June 22nd during Period 5 and 6 which is 1:45 pm to the end of the day.  Join us if you can to see your child perform a dance with Mr. Morin!  It will also be our final spirit dress up day.  Students are encouraged to dress up for Canada Day to celebrate our country's upcoming birthday!!  Wear your red and white!

Carson:
Thank you Carson for sharing such a delicious treat with us all to celebrate your birthday!!  We appreciate it and hope you have a blast at your party this Saturday with all your friends and family!!

Growth Mindset:
"Be nice to others even to those who hurt your feelings." - Sienna
Mindfulness:
What character trait is being shown over and over again?  Did you notice a pattern in the video?  What was it?  Discuss as a family and remember to PASS ON kindness always :)

Namaste,
Miss Gill
